"It's a nice day for a white wedding..."

It seems each year I'm attending more and more weddings.  This year is certainly no exception.  I was the first of my friends to get married, so now it seems like all my friends (and my favorite cousin) are getting married at once!  It doesn't bother me one bit....I love weddings.  I look forward to seeing the dresses, all the flowers, the linens, and of course the dancing! And this is the time of year when everything kicks off.  You have bachelorette parties and bridal shower brunches.
I got married young but it is hard to believe I'll be married 5 years this year.  Seems like yesterday I was shopping for my wedding dress.  This spread made me a little nostalgic for the excitement, not the frustration, of planning a wedding... plus is there anything sexier than white?

SAG Awards

On Saturday, I was forced to come down from my Golden Globes fashion high. I snuggled up to watch the SAG awards with such high expectations and was generally disappointed.  Now... there were a few highlights (See above for my favorites) but it made me wonder what happened. How, in one week, could there be such a downfall? The ladies of television really shined while the ladies of the big screen faded into the background. (With a few exceptions of course) Oh well... luckily they'll have time to redeem themselves.

Street Style: Fashionable Friends

Nothing makes me stop in my tracks more than a group of stylish women.  Laughing with your friends and looking good doing it! These ladies have it down.
P.S. Look out for my own personal style posts... coming soon! ;)

Golden Globes

The time has come... my favorite time of year.  Time for tulle, satin, and diamonds.  Award season is finally here!!!! Anyone who knows me will say that I am completely obsessed with everything red carpet... and why not? Beautiful people in beautiful clothes. Sigh... The Golden Globes certainly did not disappoint.  Not to say there weren't a few train wrecks but in general the red carpet shined! So much color and quite a few black dresses, which I usually frown upon but they were done so beautifully I couldn't help but smile.  My absolute favorites from the night are above. SAG awards on Saturday... can't wait!

Technical difficulties...

Hello, Hello! Sorry for the absence. My computer is dying a slow, very painful death.  There have been many little ailments but the latest is the power cord. It is totally shot and gave my husband a little electric shock therapy. So now the computer is completely out of battery and I can't charge it.  Apple store here I come!

"Cock your hat - angles are attitudes." -Frank Sinatra

Nothing says style to me more than a well placed hat. When I was growing up I remember watching "Guys and Dolls" for the first time.  Sinatra and Brando in their perfectly cocked fadoras were so stylish and mysterious, I instantly fell in love with hats.  Lately, I've found myself wearing quite a few hats, literally and figuratively.  This week I started my new job with Cynthia Rowley.  I love being around the clothes all day, it keeps me inspired.  I actually look forward to working which is something completely new for me. ;)  And with the freezing weather here in Chicago, I've been wearing out my vintage wool hats and fedoras.  I was thrilled that there were so many hats on the spring runways.  Some of my favorites are above.

First Chanel of the year

What a way to start the year... with Chanel!  My husband and I have been planning a trip to Europe for a few years now.  One of the locations I am most excited about is Barcelona.  The beauty of the architecture and the natural sensuality of the people really appeals to me.  This spread does too. I love the spanish inspiration here... very passionate and ornate, you can practically smell the bulls!
Kudos Karl! Kudos! :)

Frigid Fashion

It is a full out blizzard in Chicago today and isn't suppose to stop for quite some time.  Now, I think snow is beautiful but after a while it just becomes inconvenient. It makes getting around the city wet, messy, and torturous! They keep repeating the importance of bundling up on the news. With all those layers, there is plenty of opportunity show off your personal style!

Ink!

Happy New Year everyone! I had a pretty laid back night of movies, champagne, and close friends.  I also made my own little resolution list.  This year I would like to:
*Start learning french
*Eat more organically
*Cook as much as possible from scratch
*Build my "classics" wardrobe
*Get another tattoo
I got my first tattoo last year (Roman numerals on my left wrist "VIIXXII" for my anniversary) and I'm totally hooked!  I had been told that tattoos were addicting but never believed it... but "Hi, My name is Marissa. I'm addicted to tattoos." ;)
