Coffee Black and Egg White

So... my mom came up to visit me this weekend.  I love it when she visits because all we do is shop, drink coffee, and go out to restaurants. So much fun!  Anyway, during our shopping excursions I noticed that I was being drawn to everything black, white and grey.  I mean, everything I touched seemed to be void of any color. Dresses in black, skirts in grey, tops in white... I was beginning to think that my style had turned bland until I saw this spread in the November issue of Vogue Paris.  A sigh of relief came when I noticed, besides the brightly colored background (LOVE the MJ mural), all the pieces where in black, white, and silver.  Beautiful pieces too!  So it's not just me... so relieved! :)

Sweet Little Booties

Ok... so I'm on a mission.  A Mission: Impossible it seems.  I'm constantly searching for the perfect little booties.  I've tried on so many but something always seems to be missing.  They need to have a good heel (the higher the better), a bit of a platform is always welcome, and beyond that they need a certain... je ne sais quoi.  The booties above are perfect, though sadly out of my price range.... sigh... Where are those little shoe elves when you need them?

Tick...Tick...Boom!

Wow! Chanel's J12 Intense Black watch with baguette-cut ceramic inlays.... Insane.

Lovely Lily and Jessica

This photo is amazing! Jessica and Lily look absolutely stunning in their McQueen dresses, red lips, and dripping in the most extraordinary gold pieces.  Looking at this gives me the urge to grab some peroxide and lipstick and head out on the town... don't worry, I'll still be a brunette tomorrow. ;)

Adding to the Chicago Fashion Stereotype

I'm not a negative person by nature, and I HATE doing any sort of critical entry but things need to be said.  Stereotypes aside... Chicago has some remarkable designers.  And believe it or not, there are people who know how to wear them. But any stereotype is there for a reason.  Tonight, I saw it first hand. Depressing to say the least.  I went to the Horacio Nieto S/S runway show which, to much dismay, also included the unveiling of his men's line.  I really, really wanted it to be brilliant.  More than anything. Unfortunately, aside from a few dresses and a classic trench in the woman's line, I was so disappointed.  I wanted more.  I felt I deserved more, just for purely showing up.

Alexander the Great

Alexander Wang, along with 30 other designers, was welcomed into CFDA club this week.  I was so thrilled because I think he is a total genius.  His collections are always beautiful, unique, and very refreshing.   I mean who else can combine futurism with a touch of snowbunny and a dash of 80's fitness?  Incredible.

Too pretty to cover up.

I don't normally remember my dreams, which is unfortunate I think.  I do, however, remember having the common dream (nightmare) of being in my high school cafeteria in nothing but my underwear with everyone pointing and laughing.  I woke up suddenly, in a panic, sweating and had to convince myself it was just a dream.  When looking at the photos for the spring collections, I noticed Dior, Fendi, and Just Cavalli sending their models down the runway in the most beautiful lacy, silky, lingerie inspired clothing.  I can't imagine anyone pointing and laughing at these beautiful pieces... even the football team. ;)
